Although this movie only contains a handful of smoking scenes, it is still well worth watching as Sienna Miller shows some incredible smoking skills. About 20 minutes into the film she lights up a cigar for her partner and takes a huge cheek-collapsing drag. She then exhales slowly and lights up a cigarette. She then dangles the cigarette for nearly 2 minutes, taking a 4 or 5 long drags in the process. There are a few more scenes in which she takes long drags on cigarettes but the best scene is saved for last, about 10 minutes from the end. She comes home very drunk and tries to light a cigarette but puts the wrong end in her mouth. She sucks it desperately to try to smoke it then eventually realises what she has done and puts it in the ashtray. She then tries to get another cigarette out of the packet but clumsily picks up 3 and puts them in her mouth and manages to light them. The following deep drag is the best I have ever seen. She has her mouth wrapped tightly around the 3 cigarettes in a triangular formation and has her 2 fingers around the cigarettes as she produces an amazing long, deep drag. |

Schuurman has one scene approximately two thirds through the movie, where she lights a cigarette behind the bar [while] acting rebellious. She doesn't inhale and her dad takes it out of her mouth when she wants to drag again. Later on there's a scene where you can see her take a hit from a joint in a car but it's long distance and the lighting's bad. Ellen ten Damme smokes almost continuously [during] the first half of the movie, and incidentally in the second half. She doesn't inhale however and often the cutting is done so you don't see her actually smoke. This woman is a lot like Jennifer Tilly, always flirting with cigarettes, but not willing to really smoke. |
