[Burke] The best I've seen so far on her. Earlier material tough to find on Delta. Probably 6 scenes. Worth checking out.
Juno

In two scenes, Page holds a wooden pipe as if smoking, sometimes raising it to her lips and once dangling it when she stands up to get on her bicycle. It's clearly the kind used mainly for tobacco, not drugs. There's nothing in it, but the one bonus audition scene suggests that the original plan was to have her smoke for real, since you see Page, without props or scenery, pretending to be holding a pipe and exhaling, including making the sound of an exhale. There's also dialogue in the audition scene as follows: 'I'm pregnant.' 'Should you be smoking then?' 'You know my pipe is my mistress in times of stress.
Marion Bridge

[Parker] shown holding a cigarette in a still from the movie.
Mouth to Mouth
smokingsides
Playing a tough but sensitive runaway, Ellen Page has her best smoking performance so far in this film. There's a quick early close-up of her dangling as she hitchhikes, then, in a scene in which she and Brown sit together smoking and drinking, there are several close shots of her inhaling, although she doesn't exhale much smoke. She has an oddly overemphatic way of dragging that may be her interpretation of the tough character or could suggest that she wasn't a regular smoker but wanted to make sure she was really inhaling. Her best scene comes later in the film, when she and Brown are supposed to have sworn off smoking in their new life with a kind of a communal cult. As they work in the fields, Brown tempts her with either a joint or a cigarette. Page drags several times, and the editing allows us to see one thick exhale that's worth the effort of finding this film. As Page's thirty-something but equally lost mother, Natasha Wightman smokes well a couple of times.
Peacock
smokingsides
Ellen's character, Maggie, is seen smoking several times throughout, though it's always very brief. In every instance, there's a shot of her lighting the cigarette before they flash away; she never inhales or exhales any smoke.
Smart People
smokingsides
Parker has one light-up and decent exhale in close-up. Page holds a joint that's been handed to her and talks about smoking it, but the scene cuts away before any smoking is shown.
The Tracey Fragments
smokingsides
smokes in several scenes but she really doesn't look IRL, unfortunately
