Movies
Deadly Care
smokingsides
There are around a dozen cigarette-smoking scenes. Dressed in nurse's uniform, Cheryl looks very natural as her cheeks hollow as she drags and smoke emerges on her breath. She exhales while singing and dancing in one scene. In another, she relights a dog-end. Though desperately craving a cigarette as she lies in a hospital bed, deprived of the Merits she inhales both in the film and IRL, she criticises the menthols she is offered as being 'damn toothpaste cigarettes'. Nevertheless, her whole body visibly relaxes in satisfaction and appreciation as the first gratifying drag strikes home. Some good smoking dialogue, too. |
Kiss and Tell
smokingsides
Cheryl's best performance to date in an early scene. Caught by her anti-smoking husband in mid-exhale, she smiles impishly and her cheeks sink in as she takes another hard drag, opening her mouth wide to inhale. There is a voluminous side-on talk-and-nasal exhale against a dark background as she explains that it is 'just one'. He kisses her, then suggests she brush her teeth. There are two other scenes: in one she drags and you can just make out a thin nasal exhale, in the other she has just lit up when Francie asks if she can get one, and Cheryl passes the cigarette to her. Francie's first drag is feeble, but the second more convincing. |
Now and Forever
smokingsides
Fresh from the Charlie's Angels series a very young and beautiful Cheryl Ladd smokes in 3 scenes. The first is a light up scene but the director cuts away. The second is a very good close up scene with a couple drags and exhales. In the third scene near the end of the movie there is nice high volume nose exhale. |
