| Biography (TMDB): | Anna Kay Faris (born November 29, 1976) is an American actress. She rose to prominence for her work in comedic roles, particularly the lead part of Cindy Campbell in the Scary Movie film series (2000–2006). She has appeared in a number of films, including The Hot Chick (2002), May (2002), Lost in Translation (2003), Brokeback Mountain (2005), Just Friends (2005), My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006), Smiley Face (2007), The House Bunny (2008), What's Your Number? (2011), The Dictator (2012), and Overboard (2018). On television, Faris had a recurring role as Erica in the final season of the NBC sitcom Friends (2004) and starred as Christy Plunkett in the CBS sitcom Mom (2013–2020). She has also had voice-over roles in the film series Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009–2013) and Alvin and the Chipmunks (2009–2015), as well as The Emoji Movie (2017). In 2015, Faris launched Unqualified, an advice podcast, and in 2017, her memoir of the same name was published, which became a New York Times Best Seller. |

Accepts a 'joint' with excitement and inhales with what looks like experience, but it's pretty dark and the camera pans away just a bit too soon. As a result, you have to settle for intuitive faith in (rather than absolute proof of) the existence of her exhale. |

Walsh's character doesn't seem to smoke at all, until near the end when she's upset and depressed and takes a proffered cigarette from a male companion. She handles it a bit awkwardly at first, but dangles and accepts a light like she's done it before, although maybe it's been years since she quit. She opens her eyes wide as she inhales deeply, as she remembers, one imagines, the old kick. Then a long, thick exhale (good illumination, outdoors at night). Some extended holding and another long exhale follow. In Conroy's one scene, she takes a cig from her pack on the kitchen table, but goes to the back door to smoke it. You never really see much, although the camera cuts to her once as she takes a deep inhale, then away before the exhale. |

Around 8 scenes for Bettis, but the smoking is not very good. She's a nonsmoker at the beginning, but a guy she likes gets her to try smoking a cigarette. So the first lightup is obviously awkward, she just puffs as he tries to light the cig. Not much of any inhale. He then gives her his pack of cigs so she can keep practicing. 2nd scene, she dangles as he lights her cig, drag, no exhale. 2 scenes around the middle of the movie where she dangles a cig, but never lights it. Next, there's a lightup in her bedroom, takes an awkward drag and coughs out the smoke. Another drag, maybe inhaled, and a quick exhale. Next scene is intercut with other parts of the movie. It shows better looking drags, but the exhales are extremely poor. Immediately following is a scene where she's smoking outside by a tree. A couple drags and again, poor exhales. In addition to the poor smoking, the way she holds and lets go of the cigs as she inhales is quite awkward, almost exagerratedly so, and is another example of her poor technique. Also, they dressed her down a little for the movie, so she doesn't look that great. On the other hand, Faris looks pretty hot. About a third into the movie, Faris takes the pack of cigs from Bettis and puts one in her mouth, but never lights. In the last smoking scene, there's a closeup from behind of most of a full exhale. Then it cuts to the front and shows the end of an exhale. Probably IRL. |
