| Biography (TMDB): | Loretta Devine (born August 21, 1949) is an American actress, singer and voice actor. She is known for numerous roles across stage and screen. Her most high profile roles include Lorrell Robinson in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls, the long-suffering Gloria Matthews in the film Waiting to Exhale, and her recurring role as Adele Webber on the medical drama Grey's Anatomy, for which she won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series in 2011. Cloke smokes in at least two different scenes, in one of which she lights a cigarette with another girl's lit cigarette, then has 2 or 3 uninterrupteed, IRL-looking inhale/exhale combos. Most other female characters in the movie smoke at least once, with one particularly unattractive lesbian character having one massive french inhale. |

Not the smoking I was hoping to see from [Slater], although just a little bit of promise. Brennan had 3 scenes that are just there. The drug dealer, Loretta Devine, had one scene close to the beginning with nothing notable either. Well had an IRL performance at about :25 into the movie where Helen had an obscure try, editing and lighting at fault, at smoking a Joint. Helen finally had the only scene worth mentioning at :35 while she was walking down the street returning home when she heard the footsteps of someone following her. As she quickened her pace, the first shot, in profile, was at medium/far range and you could make out a good drag but no discernable exhale. The second shot was from almost straight on at close/medium range where she had a deep hit followed by a windblown exhale and a residual exhale immediately after. Helen had another attempt at toking in her apartment later but it was lackluster at best. Near the end of the movie, Helen was lying on her bed, stomach down, finishing up rolling a joint. In close up, she started to light up but her impending divorce document played to her emotions and the scene ended. If you are a Helen Slater fan, you will like it. |

I had already seen Whitney have 2 drags in an ET report, supposedly to be a scene in the movie. Well, this scene must have been cut somehow, because Whitney only holds the cigarette in her only 'cigarette scene'. Angela Basset on the other hand gives a pro performance! She deeply inhales each drags and sexily rubs her tongue against her upper lip before having long mouth exhales. Must be a RL! |
