She started film work in the United States in the late 1990s. She appeared in small-scale dramas The Last Days of Disco (1998) and Brokedown Palace (1999). Francis is smoking something--bong, joint, cigarettes--in just about every scene she's in. It's mostly well-filmed, with some powerful inhales & exhales, including a nice French. Kate, looking hotter than I've ever seen her, has two scenes sharing a joint, with one very nice close-up of a deep drag. Unfortunately the camera is off her for any exhale. Overall I would recommend this one, especially for Francis M fans. |
Snow Angels

A few good scenes featuring Kate Beckinsale but editing is poor. However, there are still 2 or 3 great scenes. In one scene she takes a massive cheek-hollowing drag, then later on in the film she takes another deep drag lasting at least 10 seconds and then has a 20 second delay before exhaling and filling the room with smoke. Unfortunately the editing is poor in the other scenes otherwise this could have been a great film. |
The Aviator

At least one scene in a pub. |

For what it's worth, Scorcese did not totally whitewash smoking in this period piece. It's true that he didn't show Ava Gardner or Kate Hepburn smoking, but in several crowd scenes, there were women smoking. However, none were shown in close-up, nor did I notice any complete inhale-exhale sequences. |
