The attractive Morse looks IRL as she smokes a half a dozen times in this entertaining five-hour Australian mini-series, sometimes by herself and sometimes sharing a cigarette with a man, but the editing is a little frustrating. There are a few close-ups of inhales in which she looks lovely and seems to be inhaling deeply, and there's one brief close-up of a talking exhale, but the only two complete inhale-exhale sequences come in less enchanting wide shots. |

There are three lighting up scenes. Also, late in the movie, as a prisoner of the Nazis, Virginia is offered a cigarette by a German officer. She does not respond, and he hangs a cigarette between her lips. As he reaches over to light it, she spits the cigarette into his face. |
