Biography (TMDB): Jeanne Moreau (23 January 1928 – 31 July 2017) was a French actress, singer, screenwriter, and director. She made her theatrical debut in 1947, and established herself as one of the leading actresses of the Comédie-Française. She began playing small roles in films in 1949 and eventually achieved prominence as the star of Lift to the Scaffold (UK)/Elevator to the Gallows (USA) (1958), directed by Louis Malle, and Jules et Jim (1962), directed by François Truffaut. Most prolific during the 1960s, Moreau continued to appear in films until her death in 2017, at the age of 89. Movies
Ascenseur pour l'%chafaud
smokingsides
Only one scene, in which Moreau is glimpsed from a distance holding at an outdoor caf%. Stubs it out about 2 seconds later. A bit player has a pretty good drag and exhale near the end.
Baie des anges, La
smokingsides
A great one. Moreau plays a chic, Cardin-clad Riviera gambler with peroxide-blonde hair, and she smokes throughout. And I mean she does it all, in true French-actress style. Any cigarette move you can imagine, chances are she does it here -- cheek-collapsing drags, nostril exhales with and without dangling, mouth exhales ditto, talking exhales, dangles that seem to last for minutes on end, and in the piece de resistance, smoke rings blown gently into her lover's face from inches away. Midway through she starts using a foot-long holder, and thereafter shows most of the same moves using that. Oh, and she smokes unfiltered throughout. They don't make movies like this, or smokers like Moreau, any more, so don't miss it.
Bis ans Ende der Welt
smokingsides
Two short scenes - one drag in each.
Clothes in the Wardrobe
smokingsides
[Headey] smokes in 3 scenes, 1 light up, 3 drags
Eva
smokingsides
Smokes endless packs of cigarettes in strangers' bedrooms (website review)
Jules et Jim
smokingsides
Jeanne smokes a cigar as she goes out 'disguised' as a man. (basically painted on a mustache, but she still obviously has breasts).
Liaisons dangereuses, Les
smokingsides
Smokes unfiltered French cigarettes in ten scenes. There is a talk-and-nasal exhale early on that continues for a full 12 seconds. A thick side-on exhale is also depicted.
Mademoiselle
smokingsides
Great smoking scene
smokingsides
smokes in two scenes, but in both the lighting is not good and the exhales not very visible
Querelle
smokingsides
smokes in the brothel/cabaret while singing the song, 'Each Man Kills The Thing He Loves.' There is also some ambient (background) smoking.
Temps qui reste, Le
smokingsides
chainsmokes as usual. She is, as usual too, a very sophisticated and sensual smoker, and speaks very well with her huskier-than-ever voice.
The Last Tycoon
smokingsides
Brief sequence in B/W, but uninspiring.
The Victors
smokingsides
0:57 - JM lights, holds nicely, takes two little drags. 1:15 - RS, 5-6 nice drag-exhales at table. 1:24 - RS places cig in mouth; later, a drag-exhale and stubout. Also in this scene, a woman in the bar, cig dangling, vainly awaits a light from George Peppard. 1:38 - MM holds in longshot. 1:40 - MM accepts light, stubout a min later. 1:43 - MM accepts light, small exhale. 1:47 - MM lights, but puts it down. 2:18 - SB declines a light with a shake of her head and lights herself; later a couple little drag-exhales and a stubout.
Touchez pas au grisbi
smokingsides
In two early scenes, we see a very young -- it took me a minute to recognize her -- Moreau smoking in a restaurant, where she has a couple of drags with thick exhales, then in a car, where she lights a cigarette and exhales while handing it to a guy. That's all from Moreau, but there's some smoking from other actresses scattered throughout the rest of the film as well, which is terrific even aside from the smoking.
Truite, La
smokingsides
Huppert smokes once, lighting up, with a very good snap inhale and one visible exhale. That's it for her. Moreau, who looks pretty old in this movie, smokes several times, with nothing of note.
Viva Mar%a!
smokingsides
[Bardot] briefly handles a cigar (to light a bomb fuse) but she does not smoke
