Movies
Caroline at Midnight
smokingsides
0:33 - Mia dangles an allwhite awaiting a light (includes a quick closeup), but it never gets lit. 0:41 - Virginia, in a black wig, does two frenches, (but wish shots were closer). 0:48 - While on phone, Virginia tantalizingly puts an unlit allwhite to her lips, but scene ends. 0:59 - Virginia dangles as she walks across room. We miss lightup, but see a partial drag. |
Sideways
smokingsides
Madsen lights up at a bar and holds throughout the scene. Only one drag, though -- we see most of it in a straight-on shot, then just before she completes it the director cuts to a 3/4 rear shot. Fortunately, she turns her head to exhale, and we a nice thick one in profile. Oh takes two voracious hits on a joint in a later scene, with one slightly visible exhale. Incidentally, it's a great movie as well. |
The Hot Spot
smokingsides
The director should get the electric chair for screwing up the scenes in which Jennifer smokes. No close-up, no inhales, no exhales and the final edit of the movie shows her lighting up the same cigarette twice in a scene. The scenes with Virginia are, as usual, top quality though. But... something's missing. |
