Biography (TMDB): Chloë Stevens Sevigny (born November 18, 1974) is an American film actress, fashion designer and former model. Sevigny became known for her broad fashion career in the mid-1990s, both for modeling and for her work at New York's Sassy magazine, which labeled her the new "it girl" at the time, garnering her attention within New York's fashion scene. Sevigny made her film debut with a leading role in the controversial Larry Clark film Kids (1995), which led to an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her performance. A long line of roles in generally well-received independent and often avant-garde films throughout the decade established Sevigny's reputation as an indie film queen. It was not until 1999 that Sevigny gained serious critical and commercial recognition for her first mainstream role in Boys Don't Cry, for which she received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress. Sevigny has continued acting in mostly independent art house films, such as American Psycho (2000), Party Monster (2003), The Brown Bunny (2003) and Dogville (2003). In 2006, Sevigny gained a leading role in the HBO television series Big Love, for which she received a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in 2010. Additionally, Sevigny has two Off-Broadway theatre credits, and has starred in several music videos. She has also designed several wardrobe collections, most recently with Manhattan's Opening Ceremony boutique.

Movies
Boys Don't Cry

Sevigny and Swank smoked throughout the movie in mostly every scene. They smoked in social settings and during the emotional scenes. They both inhaled fully

High hopes attended this one, since the director earlier gave us the great Irma Vep and the alltime classic Late August, Early September. Unfortunately, however, in this one his style is all arty lighting, quick cutting, and nervous, jerky camera movement. There's PLENTY of smoking, but it could have been much better with a different directing style. The rundown: Nielsen has the most scenes scattered throughout, is shown lighting a few times and occasionally gives us a lusty, thick exhale. Gershon, very sexy, has one office scene with a lot of holding and a couple of quickly glimpsed, well-lit exhales, and later lights up in a dark hotel room. Sevigny's two scenes, both in cars, have lightups and a few drags/exhales but are mostly ruined by being shot through lots of window reflection. The middle-aged Reymond has one decent scene with a stylish lightup and some dangling. Yamazaki is shown to be young and gorgeous in two early nonsmoking scenes, but when she lights up and takes several drags in a later nightclub scene, the fancy lighting effects make both her face and the smoke mostly invisible. Bottom line: well worth seeing, but still frustrating.
Sisters
smokingsides
has several scenes of Margot Kidder and [Salt] smoking, the [latter] with nice close ups in a car ride with her mother driving.
smokingsides
Sevigny smokes very well with good lighting, but unfortunately it amounts mostly to holding and few drags/exhales.
Ten Minutes Older: The Trumpet
smokingsides
This is a short 15 minute black and white film similar to what you can see regularly on the Sundance Channel. Sevigny smokes a complete cigarette during a rehearsal break. Definitely IRL looking here with several good mini snap inhales and visible exhales shown. This is an excellent short film and I wish all the actresses were in one similar to this.
The Brown Bunny
smokingsides
Sevigny enters the movie late. Two scenes in the bathroom smoking drugs with a pipe, each time with 3 inhales and 2 thick exhales. Later, one drag off a cig, open mouth inhale, and exhale. Then one more time on the pipe. Tiegs just holds in her scene earlier in the movie. Midway, Blake has a nice inhale/exhale while in a van.
Trees Lounge
smokingsides
Sevigny: Smokes a lot, but doesn't inhale... Ditto for Carol Kane, who, although she quit in the '70's, still [uses] the same brand she did in 'Annie Hall'(Tarreytons). Debi Mazar:The beginning of an inhale. Eszter Balint: Three good inhales and exhales. [Shepherd]: Holds but doesn't smoke.
