Playing a 13-year old girl in a very dysfunctional family, 15-year old Laura Sadler is seen near the start of the film putting on lipstick and practicing her smoking in the bathroom. In a nice close-up, she lights up with a kind of confident attitude, but then, as she sort of tries to inhale, coughs out the smoke quickly. She doesn't really inhale her second drag, which allows her to let the smoke out a little more slowly. She doesn't seem IRL, but she (or at least her character) seems to be enjoying herself. About a half-hour later, sort of flirting with a young man, she says 'I'm 13! I know how to smoke and everything - Look!' She then takes her cigarette and takes a drag on it, but coughs again, this time in too wide a shot to see much. Warning - the film starts out as a kind of Mike Leigh-style British working class comedy, but soon becomes much darker, both in terms of sex and violence.
