Movies
Blowup
smokingsides
About 50 minutes into the movie, Redgrave is with a guy in his apartment. The guy gives her his lit cigarette and wants her to smoke it in rhythm to the music. She takes one drag and has a very faint exhale. She holds the cigarette while moving her hand around. It's an odd, but otherwise nice scene. At about the 1:38 mark, there is a party scene in which several attractive young women are smoking either cigarettes or joints. This scene lasts for a couple of minutes. In addition to some background smoking, we get to see a couple of close-up drags with visible exhales. Lastly, we get to see a young lady 'lick' and finish rolling a joint about midway through this party scene. Both scenes are well-filmed by director Michelangelo Antonioni. |
Girl, Interrupted
smokingsides
Countless scenes from both actresses in this film set in a mental hospital ward. Ryder smokes French cigarettes constantly through the first 2/3 or so, while Jolie smokes throughout the whole film, often holding the cigarette in her teeth between drags. At one point they take turns blowing smoke into the face of an apparently catatonic woman. Actually, pretty much every actress in the film smokes. The lighting and editing aren't always the best, but the quantity is overwhelming. |
How About You...
smokingsides
Hayle Atwell is a very good looking woman (25 at the time) but only has two smoking scenes in the entire movie, she has a very long distance exhale and a close up drag but the director cuts away for the exhale. [Atwell] is IRL and her second smoking scene is a joint scene with her sister in the movie Orla Brady with a faint exhale shown but not worth watching for smoking content. Redgrave has a couple drags but no exhales shown, a big let down. |
