Elizabeth Jean Philipps (born June 25, 1979), known professionally as Busy Philipps, is an American film actress, perhaps best known for her supporting roles on the television series Freaks and Geeks and Dawson's Creek. She has also performed significant roles in films like The Smokers (2000), as Karen Carter, the drama film Home Room (2002) as Alicia Browning, she appeared in White Chicks (2004), played a supporting role in Made of Honor (2008) and appeared in He's Just Not That Into You (2009), starring Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson and Drew Barrymore. Philipps has many scenes in which she lights up with a Zippo, drags hard, inhales deeply, and exhales thick clouds of usually well-lit smoke. In one scene, she offers a nonsmoking friend a cigarette and says 'yes you do' when the friend says she doesn't want to smoke. She also discusses with the same friend the proposition that boys like girls who smoke because they think they're easy, and says 'Boys don't like me because I smoke. Boys don't like me at all. But men do.' How appealing you find all this depends on how appealing you find (1) teenagers (2) wearing heavy Goth makeup, including dark lipstick, and (in one scene) a nose ring.% Not my cuppa tea, but if you're into that, her smoking itself is terrific and copious.
