Movies
A Hole in the Head
smokingsides
One scene in the middle of the movie where Sinatra hands over his lit cigarette, and she takes a couple of drags, with one visible faint exhale. Nothing spectacular.
An American Dream
smokingsides
Parker clicks her fingers imperiously and mimes a drag to indicate to her boyfriend that she wants a cigar, takes a couple of puffs, and then burns him as he makes advances. She dangles and talks in another scene. Leigh smokes cigarettes in several scenes, throwing the butt on the office floor when she has finished. Leigh smokes in several scenes - but some are at a distance. One scene has nice side closeup
Caged
smokingsides
Parker plays a naive, unwitting robbery accomplice sent to prison. She clumsily smokes when offered a cigarette by a sympathetic warden (Agnes Moorehead) upon arrival. Eventually the barbaric prison conditions turn her in to hardened criminal, and her smoking improves the tougher she becomes. At one point her head is shaved as punishment and shortly therafter she has the best smoking scene of the picture, with her anger and hopelesness clearly visible. At the end of the movie she is released on parole to gangsters, and she seductively allows one of them to light her cigarette as she gets in the car. Very good stuff!!
Home from the Hill
smokingsides
A couple of scenes. The first is an outdoor lightup about halfway through the movie. A couple of good subsequent drags and exhales. The second is a brief shot taking a drag and then putting it out.
Interrupted Melody
smokingsides
smokes in one scene after she has unsuccessfully tried to make a come back as a crippled singer. she only smokes one, and is very ticked off when she does, and, unfortunately, extinguishes it before it is finished.
Madison Avenue
smokingsides
Takes a drag with a reasonable exhale and holds nicely while talking to Dana Andrews.
Never Say Goodbye
smokingsides
One scene around 35-40 mins in with a lightup and a solid exhale.
The Oscar
smokingsides
[Parker] accepts a light while using a holder, but has just one slight exhale photographed from behind. Elke and Edie both hold in separate scenes, but don't take any drags. Given the film's era and the actresses, this should have been much better.
The Seventh Sin
smokingsides
Several decent scenes as I recall
The Sound of Music
smokingsides
Partial review - briefly seen holding unlit cig
