She has appeared in many of the films directed by her brother, Spike Lee, including She's Gotta Have It (1986), School Daze (1988), Do the Right Thing (1989), and Mo' Better Blues (1990). She also wrote and produced the film Crooklyn. Lee was born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Jacqueline (née Shelton), a teacher of arts and black literature, and William James Edward Lee III, a jazz musician, bassist, actor and composer. [Young] Plays twin sisters who both smoke (for a change). One of them smokes Salem's but dies early (sounds familiar?). The other one likes to steal a puff or two from other people cigarette. A kinda cute young black woman [Lee] smokes in a scene too. As twin sister #1, Young takes out a Salem, but is pushed off the roof before she lights it. As sister #2, she smokes in four further scenes. The first is just a feeble drag and stub out. In the second (and best), Lee drags and exhales a thick cloud before passing her cigarette to Young who takes two full drags with far-reaching exhales - the first is initially talk-exhaled. Thirdly, she lights an all-white in a car and passes it to the driver. She stubs out in a fourth scene. |

Lee has a few inhales with thin visible exhales. Blanchett plays two characters, herself and her cousin, who is dressed down. Playing herself, she has a lightup just offscreen and a later drag. Because of the background, exhales can't been seen. Better smoking from the cousin character, smoking throughout the scene. A lightup and 8 or so drags. Several snap inhales, exhales arent that great, but there is a nice nose exhale. White has a half dozen inhales and a lightup. Don't see any exhales, but there is a nice french inhale. The gorgeous French does a very nice job. Shot mostly closeup, a lightup with maybe 8 inhales. Exhales are thick and visible, usually exhaling some through the nose and the rest from the mouth. |
