A five-time Academy Award nominee, Jones won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Song of Bernadette (1943).

This could have been one of the best smoking shots in movie history, had the director stayed with the shot and not cut away. Jones walks up to William Holden with cigarette in mouth and receives a light off his lit cigarette. It's obvious she's taking a huge inhale, but the scene fades to black before we can see the end result.
