Drop Dead Gorgeous
smokingsides
[Janney] is seen smoking in nearly every scene she is in... Lighting, inhaling, exhaling, [etc]
How to Deal
smokingsides
Mandy's smoking was terrible, but don't be alarmed: It was contextually terrible. She finds cigarettes in her brother-in-law's-to-be bathroom and decides, why not see what it's like to smoke. Of course, she coughs after lighting it up, and her exhale seems uninhaled. Later we return to her still smoking and see the end of another weak exhale. On the other hand, she's smoking cork-tip 100s, a real pleasant surprise, since I fully expected those yucky Marlboro Lights to make the scene. Let's hope this is Mandy's coming out performance, much as Britney's appearance on SNL foretold the wondrous events to follow.
Life During Wartime
smokingsides
:52, Sheedy takes several nice drags and has an excellent exhale. Unfortunate that was shot from behind. 1:02 Janney holds after sex. 1:08 Pot and cigs at party. Nothing to see. 1:28 Unknown actress takes nice drag outside church.
Nurse Betty
smokingsides
Janney lights a tipped cigar in one scene... Kelley is shown holding a cigar briefly, though no inhale or exhale.
Private Parts
smokingsides
Has a quick cig stub-out (which leaves the butt still smoking), followed by a light-up and another stub-out.
smokingsides
One deep drag in the first scene of the movie
The Associate
smokingsides
[Neuwirth] about 4 scenes... Anyway there are a couple of scenes, no great exhales/inhales, but there is one scene where she leaves her Marlboro Red dangling from her lips for about a full minute. It was a kinda distant shot, but she sure looked comfortable.
The Help
smokingsides
Pretty much all of the women smoke in this movie. Multiple scenes throughout. Emma Stone has several holding scenes and eventually has inhales and exhales towards the last third of the movie. It's a period piece, so all the women smoke and do it elegantly. Definitely worth watching!
The Ice Storm
smokingsides
Weaver has a few decent scenes, Burton just holds, Janney drags a few times, Ricci has a closeup drag and inhale, but no exhale while smoking in the schoolyard with her friends.
The Impostors
smokingsides
A few scenes with constant drags, two of them with a holder
