| Biography (TMDB): | Barbara Hershey (born Barbara Lynn Herzstein; February 5, 1948) is an American actress. In a career spanning more than 50 years, she has played a variety of roles on television and in cinema in several genres, including westerns and comedies. She began acting at age 17 in 1965 but did not achieve much critical acclaim until the latter half of the 1980s. By that time, the Chicago Tribune referred to her as "one of America's finest actresses". Hershey won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries/TV Film for her role in A Killing in a Small Town (1990). She received Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Mary Magdalene in The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) and for her role in The Portrait of a Lady (1996). For the latter film, she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and won the Los Angeles Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has won two Best Actress awards at the Cannes Film Festival for her roles in Shy People (1987) and A World Apart (1988). She was featured in Woody Allen's Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), for which she was nominated for the British Academy Film Award for Best Supporting Actress and Garry Marshall's melodrama Beaches (1988), and she earned a second British Academy Film Award nomination for Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan (2010). Hershey holds a lot in the first part of the movie, taking an occasional awkward puff. Her cigarettes appear to be non-tobacco. Ledoyen smokes in one scene. After taking a big drag, she talks it out, but the smoke is tough to see. There is also a scene where a teenager gives her younger sister [Conlon] her cigarette. The younger girl doesn't inhale, but does lean her head back and blows a series of upward smoke rings. I didn't catch the names of these actresses. |

Smokes throughout the first 2/3 of the film; probably at least 10 different scenes, none of which will knock your socks off, but there are plenty of drags, 2 or 3 nice exhales, and it's definitely worth checking out. |

About 45 Min. in Hershey shares a 'black' joint with two guys you'll recognize. She takes two hits the first one she awkwardly blows out without inhaling. The second one is a little better but this flick isn't good. It reminds me of one of those soft-core porns you find on SHO @ about 1 in the morning. |

Several scenes smoking all-white cigarettes. However, her smoking is not very sexy. On no occasion she takes a nice drag, inhales it for a second or two and blows a nice long exhale. She rather holds the smoke for a long time until it comes out from the nostrils or from the mouth as she sighs or talk. Still, I really appreciated watching her smoke. |
