Biography (TMDB): Susan Hayward (June 30, 1917 – March 14, 1975) was an American actress. After working as a fashion model in New York, Hayward travelled to Hollywood in 1937 when open auditions were held for the leading role in Gone With the Wind (1939). Although she was not selected, she secured a film contract, and played several small supporting roles over the next few years. By the late 1940s the quality of her film roles had improved, and she achieved recognition for her dramatic abilities with the first of five Academy Award nominations for Best Actress for her performance as an alcoholic in Smash-Up, the Story of a Woman (1947). Her career continued successfully through the 1950s and she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of death row inmate Barbara Graham in I Want to Live! (1958). By this time, Hayward was married and living in Georgia and her film appearances became infrequent, although she continued acting in film and television until 1972. She died in 1975 following a long battle with brain cancer. Description above from the Wikipedia article Susan Hayward, licensed under CC-BY-SA, full list of contributors on Wikipedia.

Two all-white lightings
Back Street
smokingsides
Hayward smokes throught the movie, some decent, including one late in the movie wearing gloves (for those interested), filmed at a distance. Miles has at least one scene that I can remember, while talking on the telephone.
House of Strangers

Seen initially holding and stubbing out, Susan later takes a cigarette from her case and lights without inhaling. In the only close-up, an unlit cigarette hangs from her lips. There is also an out-of-focus drag and exhale in a car.
I Can Get It for You Wholesale
smokingsides
Susan isn't putting on an act - her deep addictive smoking is wholly natural and not just done for effect. She is first seen dragging in the opening scene, with traces of smoke hanging on her breath. She later droops her cigarette from the corner of her mouth and her cheeks hollow as she drags hard to ignite it and then takes a further double drag before removing it from her lips with a solid inhale. Another double drag comes later in the movie. A lit cigarette hangs from her lips as she dresses a mannequin, with a deep drag and inhale as she removes it. Vicki smokes in two scenes. Marion, as a model, performs a lovely open-mouth inhale with a copious exhale.
I Want to Live!

smokes throughout... Especially when shes waiting in her cell for her execution. She bums a light off the Warden. Classic style.
I'll Cry Tomorrow
smokingsides
One IRL drag, exhale, and stubout. Later, an unlit cigarette is in an ashtray next to her bed.
My Foolish Heart
smokingsides
Hayward lights up very early on: her cheeks sink in as she takes a heavy drag and executes a quality open-mouth inhale, sucking it down deep and glancing appreciatively at the cigarette that has delivered its reward. Two other brief scenes, including smoking dialogue: ' Just two puffs on a cigarette and I'll be perfectly happy'. Booth and Wheeler hold in short scenes.
Smash-Up, the Story of a Woman
smokingsides
[Hayward] There are eight smoking scenes, including three lightings. Only two clear inhales from her non-filters, but she makes them count, opening her mouth wide to send them deep and letting the smoke stream thickly from her nostrils and hang on her breath as she speaks.
Stolen Hours
smokingsides
At least one light up early in the film. Saw it towards the end of a 10 minute youtube video.
The Fighting Seabees
smokingsides
Only one scene (in nightclub) but is classic Hayward and worth waiting for
The Hairy Ape

good profile closeup, having cigerette lit, several other longshots with cigerette.
The Lusty Men

accepts a cigarette from Robert Mitchum, who lights it for her
The Marriage-Go-Round
smokingsides
Three scenes, but they lack her usual excellent exhales. But there was a lengthy dangle when she finds the table lighter won't work, so then lights with a straight match and exhales.
The President's Lady

Smokes a pipe
The Snows of Kilimanjaro
smokingsides
Two romantic two-on-a-match scenes with Gardner and one with Hayward. Gardner droops at just the right angle as she is lit, but her inhale is barely discernable. Hayward opens her mouth real wide to send the smoke deep into her lungs. Poorly lit, unfortunately.
They Won't Believe Me
smokingsides
Susan had a couple of pretty good scenes, and Jane had at least one holding
Top Secret Affair
smokingsides
Smoked throughout the film in the usual Hayward classic style
Valley of the Dolls
smokingsides
Duke smokes on a patio while fighting with her husband. A few drags and exhales before she tosses her cig into the pool. Tate holds in a screening room, but nothing more.
Where Love Has Gone

Both Heatherton and Hayward smoke with mouth exhales and another attractive woman holds
