A bitter disappointment. Friel holds several times in the last half of the movie, prepares to light up once, and dangles once while driving a car, but there're no visible inhales or exhales. McCabe smokes in two scenes but she's old and unattractive. |

WOW. The film spans three decades in the life of best friends Williams and Friel, from pre-teens in 1973 to late 30's in 2001 with stops in 1978,1982 and 1989. No shortage of great lightups, inhales, exhales, holds --- Williams holds with her toes in two scenes! Styler holds in nearly all of her scenes as Williams' mother and there is another young blonde who smokes in two scenes and a Spanish actress as well. Williams changes her look throughout the film from black bobbed punker to bleached blonde punker and back to the short black hair. A triumph! |

But the last scene had all 3 lying on a bed, with Weisz taking 2 drags, and performing 2 nice french inhales. She then passed the cig to Friel who dragged and exhaled, and then passed it to McCormack who was going to drag just as the scene cut away. It was a pleasant surprise. |
