Biography (TMDB): Winona Laura Horowitz (born October 29, 1971), known professionally as Winona Ryder, is an American actress. She is the recipient of several awards, including a Golden Globe Award, and has been nominated for two Academy Awards. She is known for taking on quirky roles in her earlier films, later playing more prominent roles in the 1990s. After Ryder's film debut in Lucas (1986), she gained attention with her performance in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice (1988). She further rose to prominence with major roles in Heathers (1989), Mermaids (1990), Edward Scissorhands (1990), and Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992). She garnered critical acclaim and two consecutive Academy Award nominations for her portrayals of socialite May Welland in Martin Scorsese's The Age of Innocence (1993) and Jo March in the fifth film adaptation of Little Women (1994). Her other films during this period were Reality Bites (1994), How to Make an American Quilt (1995), The Crucible (1996), Alien Resurrection (1997), Celebrity (1998), and Girl, Interrupted (1999), which she also executive-produced. In 2002, Ryder starred in the critically panned box office hit Mr. Deeds, after which her career declined and she took a break from films. In 2009, she returned in the high-profile film Star Trek. In 2010, she was nominated for two Screen Actors Guild Awards: as the lead actress in the television film When Love Is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story and as part of the cast of Black Swan. She also reunited with Burton for Frankenweenie (2012). She has starred as Joyce Byers in the Netflix science fiction horror series Stranger Things (2016–present), for which she has received Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations; and in 2020, she starred in the HBO drama miniseries The Plot Against America. Her relationship with Johnny Depp in the early 1990s and a 2001 arrest for shoplifting were both subjects of tabloid journalism. She has been open about her personal struggles with anxiety and depression. In 2000, Ryder received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Celebrity
smokingsides
Griffith has one good drag, Neuwirth smokes with a holder, often biting on it when not puffing. Ryder has three great scenes, with some nose exhales and smoke talk. Theron smokes long brown cigarettes in all of her scenes, with extreme cheek hollowing inhales and some french inhales. She often puts it between her teeth before inhaling. Mol has one drag off of a joint. Pantaeva briefly smokes a pipe.
Girl, Interrupted
smokingsides
Countless scenes from both actresses in this film set in a mental hospital ward. Ryder smokes French cigarettes constantly through the first 2/3 or so, while Jolie smokes throughout the whole film, often holding the cigarette in her teeth between drags. At one point they take turns blowing smoke into the face of an apparently catatonic woman. Actually, pretty much every actress in the film smokes. The lighting and editing aren't always the best, but the quantity is overwhelming.
Heathers
smokingsides
Only a short scene at the end. Not worth anything. an earlier scene where she is in the car with Christian Slater and lets an unlit corktip hang from her lips for about 15 seconds. Never does get a light, though.
How to Make an American Quilt
smokingsides
This was the only decent offering of a very bad month. Alfre Woodard stars, with several outstanding long drags and slow exhales; there are a couple of other decent shots from others in this flick, including Winona Ryder, but Alfre is clearly the standout.
Lost Souls
smokingsides
Seen smoking in 4 or 5 badly-lit scenes. A couple of wimpy drags, a couple of nearly invisible exhales, and she looks like a total novice and like she'd rather be doing anything other than smoking. Really disappointing, especially in the wake of her fine style in Celebrity and Girl, Interrupted.
Mermaids
smokingsides
[Cher] smokes long all-whites in several scene. [Winona] also pretends to smoke an unlit one in a scene. [Townsend] smokes in the girls room at school. Two drags, but it doesn't look real. We also see another girl light up.
Night on Earth
smokingsides
Lots of smoking here, Beatrice smokes in a long scene, Winona smokes throughout but not very sexily and Geena, even aging, looks the best smoking long all-whites.
S1m0ne
smokingsides
[Roberts] smokes in four or five shots [in] the trailer
The Darwin Awards
smokingsides
Ryder smokes well in one scene. Margulies only holds in 2 scenes, but she's shown holding a lot, so it's maddening she doesn't smoke at all in it
The Informers
smokingsides
After sex [Heard] takes a water-pipe and has one deep inhale and three nicely nose/mouth exhales.
The Last Word
smokingsides
a cute girl, about 19 or 20, with at least one exhale
smokingsides
Michelle plays a strip dancer in this movie and smokes Camel's in many scenes. Again, we're dealing with a lovely young lady who seems to have all the assets to be a RL, but let's not jump the gun and wait for confirmation.
smokingsides
one drag between minute 52 and minute 53 - invisible exhale, nothing special.
