All three actresses dangle and smoke 'joints' frequently, but actually, according to the DVD commentary, the joints were alternately herbal cigarettes or prop cigarettes made with metal in the middle so smoke wouldn't get in the performers' throats. Almost all the smoking is performed so comically, and usually so frantically, that it loses much of its appeal, at least to me, but of the three actresses, Amy looks like the most likely to smoke IRL. |

As an almost rescued kidnap victim, Bell is distraught but still beautiful as she puts an unlit cigarette to her lips only to have it snatched away by rescuer Kilmer. A short time later he hand rolls (from a Passport book page and local tobacco I think), lights it and hands it to her. Her one drag and exhale are closeup, but any smoke was too faint for me to see. |
